Dr. Janis Schaeffer has been a prominent Pediatric Pulmonologist in New York for more than 25 years. Her fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine was at Columbia University-College of Physicians and Surgeons, Babies Hospital in N.Y. Her career includes several years when she was the Chief of Critical Care Medicine and in charge of the ICU at Schneider Children’s Hospital (now Cohen Children’s Medical Center/Northwell Health) followed by over two decades of private practice exclusively in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine during which time she has consulted on and followed 10,000 children and teens with pulmonary issues. As a result, she has extensive experience in the care of children with asthma and dedicates her time to improving their quality of life through the Breathe Easy Play Hard Foundation. She is a Fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a long-standing member of the American Thoracic Society.
